Watermelon Refresher is a delightful fizzy cocktail that combines the flavors of watermelon, lime, and a hint of tequila with a splash of Sprite. It’s a perfect drink for a hot summer day, an outdoor gathering, or anytime you are craving a refreshing alcoholic beverage! For another mixed drink with tequila, you may also love to try a Paloma.
Ingredients & Substitutions
Salt Rim: The salted rim with lime gives this drink some added flavor and it adds an attractive visual element. However, you could certainly leave it out of the recipe if preferred.
Lime Juice: Lime juice is added to the cocktail as well as on the salt rim. Freshly squeezed is best!
Tequila: Use your favorite brand of tequila in this drink. If you are not a fan of tequila or don’t have any on hand, vodka would be a good substitute.
Watermelon Pucker: Watermelon Pucker is a brand of liqueur known for its strong watermelon flavor. It is a sweet and fruity liqueur that is typically used in cocktails to add a vibrant watermelon taste. Watermelon Pucker is a specific brand of watermelon liqueur; you could use any brand you find.
Sprite: Sprite, or any lemon-lime soda tops off the drink to add a little carbonation and sweetness. Without it, the drink was a little too bitter for our taste testers.
Can I Make A Watermelon Refresher Without A Cocktail Shaker?
No cocktail shaker? No problem! You can get creative and use a to-go coffee mug with a solid lid instead. Fill the mug up with ice, just like in a shaker, add all the ingredients, cover the opening mouth part, and get shakin’! Open it up and pour it into the glass of ice.
Can I Make A Large Batch Of This Cocktail?
Sure! If you need to prepare larger batches for a party or event, you can pre-mix the ingredients (excluding the Sprite) in a pitcher and refrigerate it. When ready to serve, pour the pre-mixed base into individual glasses filled with ice and top with chilled Sprite.

What the Test Kitchen had to say about this recipe:
Autumn
What a refreshing drink! I was a little unsure about this one because I generally don't gravitate toward sweet drinks. But this drink adds a little kick of sourness from the watermelon liqueur and I loved it!
Elizabeth
This cocktail was a pleasant surprise to me. I am not a fan of fruity, too-sweet drinks, and this one was not that! It was actually a refreshing cocktail with a little carbonation added from Sprite. It had just a hint of watermelon and lime flavors; I will be enjoying one (or two) of these this summer!
Bella
Oh wow, this is sooooo good! I feel like this drink screams "SUMMER TIME!". This drink isn't powerfully strong which is great since I don't like the taste of alcohol. So if you're the same, you'll enjoy this because it is refreshing, sweet, and delightful!
Selena
This is my favorite drink to come out of our test kitchen! It's slightly sour and slightly sweet and so refreshing! I can totally picture myself sipping this next to the pool while working on my tan!
Soooooo gut 😊……
