I can’t understand why? Is there anything I can use this expensive waste of butter and sugar on !

I made it just now for the first time it turned out absolutely wonderful.. when it says to stir occasionally -I started stirring more often. To keep it from separating no need to add any other ingredients. I turn down the heat so that I could stand there for 45 minutes and stir every few minutes constantly until the color turn an amber color and I used up the whole 45 minutes. It turned out the best candy I’ve ever made

I did half with walnuts and the other half with sparkles. Cover on top with chocolate. No need to add anything if you have the candy thermometer and turn down your heat if it heats up too fast and wait till it totally turns Amber in color- thanks

Dang it! Shoot shoot shoot. Unfortunately, I didn’t read about the 2 TB corn syrup until AFTER the disaster. Oh well. I’m glad I wasn’t “counting” on it, but just making it for fun.

The first time I thought maybe heating too fast was what caused it to separate. The second time I think it just got too hot by the time it reached 285 on my candy thermometer, as it didn’t seem to be separating until it was approaching that temp. So disappointing!

If you followed instructions and it still did not harden then look out your window. Is it a cloudy, humid or rainy day? Brittles and fudge do not like humidity and they will be hard to set and sugar will get grainy. I always set aside candy day for days that have less than 50% humidity per our weather station.

Butter separated terribly. The recipe looks yummy, but couldn’t make it work twice. Waste of time an money. Really wanted this to work.
